How does Weight Watchers work?
Weight Watchers is a weightloss programme and is comprised of weekly meetups, an online platform and an app. The meetups are optional.
Following your personal details such as height, weight and sex, a personal Weight Watcher point amount is set. This means you are allowed to eat a certain amount of points a day. These so called ‘smartpoints’ replace calorie counting as every food item you can think of is awarded a set amount of points. Vegetables, fruit and water have zero points in the Weight Watcher system.
The app also features a product barcode scanner, so you can see how many smartpoints a certain product will cost you. On the platform you can find many recipes with the points already tallied up for you.
If you want to be allowed more points a day you can decide to exercise. By doing so you’ll be rewarded active points that are added to your amount of allowed smartpoints. This means more food allowed a day! When following a Weight Watchers diet you’re allowed to eat whatever you want, however, you are stimulated to make healthy food choices due to the smartpoint system.
Ordering Weight Watcher products
The Weight Watcher Shop offers free products, as well as food products you can buy online. The advantage of consuming these products is that they have already been rewarded their smartpoints, so you don’t have to look up the point amount when eating them.
How much does a Weight Watchers subscription cost?
Weight Watchers offers two subscription options:
- Workshop + Digital, starting at €37,95 a month
- Digital, starting at €17,95 a month
Currently, Weight Watchers don’t have any promotions to cut costs. If you decide you no longer need Weight Watchers to lose weight, you can save about €455 a year!
