What kind of newspaper is NRC Handelsblad?
The NRC Handelsblad is a national newspaper. The editor-in-chief, Peter Vandermeersch, speaks of the newspaper as a quality newspaper and it is often seen as such in public opinion. Moreover, the newspaper is the fifth largest paid newspaper in the Netherlands. Regardless, the newspaper isn’t doing well and is often cancelled. This isn’t the fault of the paper itself, but is part of a larger trend that almost all newspapers are suffering from. The Volkskrant, the AD, and the Telegraaf are all suffering from the rise of new media. Newspapers are simply not being read enough.
